All-Flash (originally All-Flash Quarterly) is a Golden Age American comic-book magazine series published 1941–1947 that served as the first solo magazine vehicle for Jay Garrick, the original Flash. The title is a commercial/branding name later used as an English lexical phrase in unrelated technical and web contexts.

Origin

All-Flash was conceived as a periodical devoted to the Flash character when All-American Publications sought a distinct title separate from the existing monthly Flash Comics. The name was chosen through an editorial process that included a reader-naming contest advertised in contemporaneous comics; the series debuted with a Summer 1941 cover date. It was published by All-American Publications and later National Periodicals (DC Comics), running 32 issues through 1947, with a single revival one-shot issued in 2007 as a promotional lead-in to contemporary Flash continuity.

Appearance

All-Flash is a comic-book magazine/series (originally quarterly, changing to bi-monthly with issue #6) whose issues regularly contained multiple stories: primary Flash features and backup pieces such as Hop Harrigan, Butch McLobster, The Super Mobster, Fat and Slat, and Ton-O-Fun. Sources list issue numbering and cover dates (All-Flash Quarterly #1 Summer 1941 through issue #32 in 1947) and name contributing writers and artists; the corpus does not provide physical dimensions, paper stock, or extended artwork descriptions.

Abilities

As a periodical (not a supernatural being), All-Flash's 'abilities' are editorial and cultural: it hosted the first solo magazine feature for Jay Garrick's Flash and provided an ongoing platform where writers and artists—including early professional appearances by Robert Kanigher, John Broome, and Carmine Infantino—worked on the character. The title functioned to concentrate Flash stories in a dedicated venue and to circulate Golden Age anthology-style content to American readers.
