Origin

Elrond was born in the First Age at the refuge of the Mouths of Sirion in Beleriand and is of Peredhil (Half-elven) descent. After the destruction of Beleriand he lived in Lindon and later established and ruled Imladris (Rivendell). He served as herald to Gil-galad, stood with Gil-galad and Círdan in the Last Alliance, and through his ancestry and choices exemplifies the liminal status of the Half-elven in Tolkien's internal cosmology, a lineage that allowed him to play a continuous role through the Second and Third Ages of Middle-earth.

Appearance

The supplied sources do not provide a detailed physical description of Elrond's height, facial features, or attire; they emphasize instead his long life, lineage as Peredhil, and social roles (master of Rivendell, husband to Celebrían, father to Elladan, Elrohir and Arwen). The character is presented in sources primarily through biography and function rather than extended physical description.

Abilities

Documented abilities and roles include extreme longevity and long memory (living across the First, Second and Third Ages), leadership and stewardship as the master of Rivendell, bearer of the Elven-ring Vilya (the Ring of Air), counselor and host (providing refuge to travellers and exiles), participation in martial and diplomatic events (serving Gil-galad's herald, involvement in the Last Alliance), and at least one narrated act of healing (he healed his wife Celebrían after her capture and poisoned wound). Sources do not supply detailed descriptions of magical rituals or specific ring-granted powers beyond his association with Vilya.
