Origin

Yuki-onna is believed to be the spirit of a woman who died in a snowstorm or of the cold itself made manifest. Her temperament varies by region: in some accounts she is purely malevolent; in others she shows compassion, especially toward children.

Appearance

Impossibly tall and slender, with pale white skin almost indistinguishable from snow, long black hair, and red lips. Wears a white kimono. Her breath is the cold itself; she leaves no footprints.

Abilities

Can freeze a person to death with a single breath or touch. Can become snow or mist at will. In some accounts drains life by kissing, leaving victims looking peaceful but dead.
