Balete Drive (Quezon City)

Balete Drive is a two-lane urban street in the New Manila district of Quezon City, frequently described in reference sources as a main thoroughfare connecting Eulogio Rodriguez Sr. Avenue and Nicanor Domingo Street. The road's name is associated with balete (Ficus) trees that local lists say once grew along the street. The site is chiefly notable in popular and folkloric sources for recurring accounts of a "White Lady" apparition. Across guide-lists, podcasts, blog posts and fictional works the core legend is consistent: a female ghost in white is said to appear on or near the road and is commonly reported in narratives involving motorists or drivers. Sources vary in detail; some local retellings link the apparition to a mid-20th-century violent death of a young woman (a specific claim that appears in popular retellings but is not corroborated by primary records in the provided materials). Documentation in the provided notes is largely folkloric and media-based (encyclopedic summary, podcasts, blogs, and a comic adaptation). There are no police reports, contemporary news accounts, or named, dated eyewitness reports included among the supplied sources. The legend has been repeatedly propagated in Philippine popular culture (including the comic Trese) and appears on lists of 'spooky places', marking Balete Drive as a prominent local urban-legend site rather than a location supported by investigatory evidence in the provided material.
