The Haunting

Fort San Lorenzo (Fortaleza de San Lorenzo) is a Spanish colonial fortification located on a promontory overlooking the mouth of the Chagres River on Panama's Caribbean coast near Portobelo. The site is in ruins and is associated with the historical, now-abandoned village of Chagres at the fort site. San Lorenzo is recognized as part of the Fortifications on the Caribbean Side of Panama: Portobelo-San Lorenzo, a UNESCO World Heritage property and has been the subject of conservation concern, appearing in World Heritage Committee documentation regarding threats to the property and retention on the List of World Heritage in Danger. The fort has also been of interest to military-historical audiences and appears in travel and cruise itineraries and guides as a visitor attraction.
