The Haunting

The three buildings in GP Block, believed to have been British Army officers' quarters dating to the colonial period, have stood empty since approximately the 1930s–1950s. They are now on land controlled by the Indian defence forces, sealed behind an iron gate.

Local oral tradition describes four men sitting around candles in an upper room — believed to be the spirits of British officers who died or were killed there — and a woman in a red dress who emerges from one of the buildings and vanishes. A second female apparition is said to sit on the rooftop.

No historical incident — fire, murder, or documented death — has been traced as the origin of these legends. The stories are entirely oral and local. The buildings cannot be officially visited; the iron gate at the entrance is maintained by defence personnel who turn away visitors.
