La Vela del Mar / Puerto Plata Cemetery legends (unverified)

Research materials supplied for this request do not contain information tying the toponym 'La Vela del Mar' to a cemetery in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, nor do they document any local legends, reported phenomena, historical timeline, or named entities associated with such a site. The available sources instead address distinct maritime places and traditions in other geographies: a Wikipedia article on Cabo de la Vela (Colombia), an unrelated archived news transcript, a ritual/ devotional text concerning a Fujian-derived 'Bruja de las Mareas' tradition, and a biographical/chronological piece about a mariner from La Palma. None of these sources provide corroboration for a Puerto Plata cemetery called 'La Vela del Mar' or for paranormal claims connected to Puerto Plata. Because the corpus lacks primary or secondary Dominican sources (local newspapers, municipal or church cemetery records, oral-history collections, or investigator reports), the site's historicity, reported phenomena, cultural significance, and geographic coordinates cannot be established from the supplied materials. The only maritime-spiritual language in the set (from 'El Libro de Horas de la Bruja de las Mareas') pertains to Fujian/Chinese coastal ritual contexts and is not linked by the sources to Puerto Plata. This entry therefore records the absence of evidence and outlines recommended next steps for local research rather than asserting any uncorroborated folklore or paranormal activity.
