Origin
A Jiangshi forms when the soul fails to leave the body after death — due to improper burial, suicide, violent death, or a cat jumping over a fresh corpse. The longer it remains animated, the more powerful it becomes, eventually able to fly.
Appearance
A stiff, decomposing or perfectly preserved corpse in Qing dynasty clothing, arms outstretched, moving in rigid hops. In later stages, fur grows on the body. Eyes are milky or red.
Abilities
Absorbs qi from the living through proximity, causing wasting illness. In early stages, cannot breathe — detects prey by breath. In later stages, develops great speed and strength and ability to fly.
