Radien-attje

Sources do not record a single narrative origin tale for Radien-attje; he is presented in Sámi materials as a celestial ruler who orders the cosmos, gives life (including assigning a child's spirit), and receives righteous souls in Radien-aimo. Scholarly literature notes that the triadic portrayal (Radien-attje, his wife Raedieahkka, and son Radien-pardne) may have been influenced by contacts with neighboring religious concepts (including Christian and Norse elements) though the basic role as a sky-ruler and fertility-provider is attested in indigenous Sámi contexts.

Cited sources do not provide detailed anthropomorphic description. Radien-attje is described relationally and symbolically: as the senior, intellectual member of a heavenly family (often a triad with Raedieahkka and Radien-pardne), as the holder of the world-pillar (Veralden tsould) linking the earth centre to the firmament (Pole Star), and as a cosmic ordering presence rather than an earthbound local spirit. Some sources present him with epithets meaning 'ruler' or 'man of the world' rather than physical attributes.

Radien-attje functions as ruler of the cosmos and giver of life: he is reported to assign a child's spirit and to take the souls of the righteous to Radien-aimo. He upholds the world via the world-pillar and is propitiated so he 'wouldn't let the world collapse.' He is associated with fertility — rites and prayers addressed to him sought good harvests, fertile seas and reindeer, and adequate lichen for reindeer grazing. In the heavenly household motif, his son Radien-pardne carries out practical tasks while Radien-attje occupies the superior, ordering role.
