Origin

Alberto Falcone is introduced in Gotham as the middle child of crime lord Carmine Falcone. Educated via scholarship to Harvard and with postgraduate work at Oxford, he grows resentful and jealous at being excluded from active participation in the family's criminal enterprises. In Batman: The Long Halloween he emerges as the Holiday Killer, committing murders tied to holidays as a means to assert himself and affect the Falcone family dynamics; subsequent storylines (including Dark Victory) expand on his imprisonment, psychiatric confinement, and later maneuvers around family succession that culminate in further violent outcomes.

Appearance

Descriptions vary across adaptations; the comics present Alberto as a human adult male of Falcone lineage with a background of formal education. In the Long Halloween storyline he is at one point badly disfigured (a corpse believed to be his is recovered in one account), later revealed alive but physically battered by Batman to the point of losing feeling in one arm and with his right arm disfigured. Media portrayals differ (animated voice actors and live-action actors have depicted him), with some adaptations showing him as drug-addicted or killed early in the story.

Abilities

Alberto is a skilled marksman and an experienced mobster whose primary criminal behavior in the comics is serial homicide committed as the Holiday Killer. His modus operandi in The Long Halloween includes using a .22 pistol to kill and leaving small holiday-themed objects at crime scenes. He exhibits manipulative and violent behavior driven by jealousy, ambition to inherit or control the Falcone family's power, and psychological instability that leads to an insanity plea and commitment to Arkham Asylum.
