Bronze Tiger

Created for DC Comics in the Bronze Age of Comics by Dennis O'Neil, Leopoldo Durañona, and Jim Berry, Bronze Tiger first appeared in Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter #1 (April/May 1975). Born Benjamin 'Ben' Turner, his backstory in the available sources includes a violent childhood incident that spurred him to master martial arts. He trained under masters including O-Sensei, was captured by Professor Ojo and the League of Assassins and brainwashed into the assassin persona 'Bronze Tiger', and later served in various capacities including as an operative and second-in-command for Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad and as a martial-arts instructor and ally in subsequent stories.

Sources identify Ben Turner as African-American and associate the Bronze Tiger identity with a tiger mask and cowl used as the warrior's costume. Beyond those cues, portrayals appear across comics, animated features, and a live-action adaptation (portrayed by Michael Jai White on the television series Arrow).

Depicted as one of the world's premier martial artists, Bronze Tiger is repeatedly described as being on par with Richard Dragon and Lady Shiva and at times capable of surpassing other top-tier fighters in the DC fictional universe.
