Baron Wolfgang von Strucker

In Marvel Comics continuity Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is presented as the heir to a Prussian noble family (of Strucker Castle) who becomes a Nazi officer and later the founder and supreme leader of Hydra. Early accounts place his recruitment and rise during the 1930s–1940s wartime era; within that narrative he takes control of Hydra (killing the preceding Supreme Hydra in at least one account) and establishes a clandestine transnational conspiracy that persists into postwar and modern storylines. Story arcs across the multiverse and later comics depict his apparent deaths followed by technological or biochemical resurrections (including use of Hydra scientists, the Death Spore, cloning, and Life Model Decoys in various plots).

Sources depict Strucker as a Prussian/Bavarian nobleman and military figure whose visual presentation ranges from an aristocratic officer to an older but physically maintained conspirator. He has been shown missing an eye and using a prosthetic lens in later depictions, carries traditional weapons such as a sword and firearms, and wears a distinctive metal gauntlet called the "Satan Claw" on his right hand.

Behaviorally he directs assassination, sabotage, large-scale destructive schemes (e.g., plots involving a Death Spore weapon), infiltration of governments and institutions, and long-term clandestine manipulation through Hydra.
