Gorr was born on a nameless barren planet ravaged by earthquakes and lacking water and soil. After his mother, mate, and children died of starvation and thirst, he questioned whether gods existed; his anger awakened Knull's weapon, the All-Black (the Necrosword). Using that weapon he killed a golden god and swore revenge against all gods, beginning a campaign across time to eradicate deities throughout the Marvel fictional cosmology.
Canonical depictions vary across comics and film, but sources emphasize a gaunt, ghostly visage reflecting his origins on a barren world; critics have noted a "ghostly look." In comics and adaptations he is frequently shown fused to or wielding the All-Black Necrosword, which often appears as a living black symbiotic blade and can form dark constructs that alter his silhouette (for example wings or tendrils). The character was portrayed in live action by Christian Bale in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Gorr's abilities are derived from the All-Black the Necrosword, a weapon tied to the symbiotic god Knull. The Necrosword grants superhuman strength, durability, speed, and reflexes; virtual immortality and rapid recovery from injury; and the power to create constructs from darkness (examples in sources include wings for high-speed flight, sharp tendrils that can kill gods, and summoned Berserkers). Each time the blade slays a god it confers additional power to its wielder. Prior to acquiring the Necrosword Gorr is described as a mortal with no superhuman abilities. His defining behavior is a vow and sustained campaign to kill gods, including building a device intended to kill gods across time called the "Godbomb."
Weaknesses
- conditiondefeat by other empowered beings and loss of wielded weapon
- othernarrative vulnerability to combined godly power (e.g., Thor using Mjolnirs and absorbed Godbomb blast in comics)
Wards

Thor (Þórr)
Thor (Old Norse Þórr) is a central god in the pre-Christian Germanic/Norse religious framework, primarily associated with thunder, storms, strength, protection, fertility, and the welfare of farmers. He is a hammer-wielding warrior who fights monstrous enemies (notably Jörmungandr) and is widely attested from Roman-era Germania through the Viking Age, with ongoing cultural presence in personal and place-names and weekday nomenclature (Thursday).
Knull
Knull is a primordial godlike being from Marvel Comics who predates the current (seventh) iteration of the universe, creator and would-be sovereign of the symbiote race known as the Klyntar, and wielder of the ancient weapon All-Black the Necrosword. He functions as a cosmic antagonist whose aims center on darkness and the destruction or domination of created light.

Loki
A complex figure in Old Norse myth: son of a jötunn and the female figure Laufey, resident among the Æsir, a shape‑changing trickster whose cunning alternately aids and undermines the gods and who is bound for his role in Baldr's death before breaking free to fight at Ragnarök.
