Bahkauv

Sources do not preserve a comprehensive creation myth for the Bahkauv. The creature appears in local legends centered on Aachen and its water features; one recorded legend names Pippin the Younger as a slayer of a Bahkauv. Civic commemoration of the legend includes a statue erected by the city of Aachen in 1902 above an old well associated with the monster, which was melted down during World War II and replaced in 1967.
