Hoderi (Umisachi-hiko)

In the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki tradition Hoderi is born to Ninigi and Konohanasakuya-hime in the generation that links heavenly kami to later human lineages. He is one of the three sons born in the episode involving Konohanasakuya-hime's fire ordeal; in chronicle accounts Hoderi is identified by fire-associated name-forms in the Kojiki/Nihon Shoki variants and by the sea-associated name Umisachi-hiko. Ninigi bequeaths to Hoderi a magic fishhook described as conferring 'the luck of the sea.'
