Cornflower Wraith

Sources do not provide a cosmogonic or biographical origin story. The entity appears in local Slavic tradition as an immanent, place-bound field-being tied to the social regulation of agricultural work and the sacred midday pause (Angelus).

Typically pictured as a young, slim woman dressed in azure with cornflowers woven into her hair, roaming the bounds of cultivated fields during the midday hour.

Roams field bounds at midday and monitors farm workers' behavior. She is angered by transgressions such as trampling grain or using sharp tools in the fields at forbidden times. Punishments include putting offenders to sleep with a whisper and then causing headache, paralysis, or low back pain; in some accounts she attacks more violently, breaking arms, legs, or neck.
