Devil Hulk

Introduced as one of numerous personified Hulk-personalities located within Bruce Banner's internal mindscape — a cavern where innumerable personalities are frozen in ice — the Devil Hulk is found unfrozen but bound by chains and framed as the persona that personifies Banner's deepest resentment and self-hatred. Across publication history the Devil Hulk first appears as an alternate-personality antagonist in Hulk stories (noted in summaries of The Incredible Hulk continuity) and later becomes the dominant internal persona after Banner's death and resurrection during the Immortal Hulk era (as detailed in run summaries).

Depictions vary by story and artist, but sources consistently describe the Devil Hulk with glowing red eyes and reptilian traits; some summaries render him in a traditional lizard-like form while others show a darker, hulking persona combining reptilian features with the Hulk's massive physique. Visual specifics differ across appearances, but the recurring elements are red glowing eyes and reptilian characteristics.

On the mental plane the Devil Hulk manifests overwhelming will-power relative to other internal personalities, capable of manipulating Banner's consciousness (for example trapping Bruce in an illusionary utopia to attempt bodily takeover) and threatening to escape into the external world. When he gains dominance in the Immortal Hulk storyline he also displays physical superhuman capabilities: vast strength and stamina, enhanced regeneration attributed to gamma/Below-Place sources, lie-detection toward those who have harmed him, and destructive feats such as a named 'Gamma Burst' able to level terrain and demonstrated ability to throw powerful opponents (summarized as having thrown Hercules and Thor). His displayed might thus spans both psychic force within the mindscape and conventional gamma-augmented physical power when manifest in the body.
