Demoleon

Demoleon is presented in the epic tradition as a member of a notable Trojan household: son of Antenor and Theano (the latter a priestess of Athena), and grandson on his mother's side of the Thracian king Cisseus. The family is characterized in the sources as politically conciliatory — Antenor is reported to have urged the return of Helen to the Greeks — and in later authors the Antenorid line is associated with migration from Troy and the foundation of Patavium (Padua). Within the Iliadic narrative frame he is one named warrior among the Trojan defenders during the mythic heroic age of the Trojan War.

The sources provide no extended physical portrait of Demoleon beyond his role as a fighting man wearing the typical bronze helmet of Homeric warriors. The death-scene quoted in the sources explicitly notes that Achilles' spear struck through "his bronze-cheeked helmet," penetrating to crush the bone at the temple and shed the brain — an incidental detail that situates him visually as an armed combatant in Homeric panoply but does not supply measurements, distinctive ornament, or other descriptive features.

Demoleon is depicted as a capable and valiant mortal combatant: described in the secondary summaries as a "tough defensive fighter" and a "valiant champion of war." His notability in the tradition rests on his participation in battle and his named death at the hands of Achilles. The sources do not attribute any supernatural powers, daimonic status, or cultic functions to him; he functions as a human heroic figure within epic narrative.
