Gamma Corps

Created within Marvel Comics continuity as organized military super-soldier units produced by gamma-based procedures and genetic engineering. The original Gamma Corps was assembled by General John Ryker and Origins Corporation using gamma-derived DNA (notably Hulk DNA sourced from a battle scene) to produce a team of enhanced operatives to capture or kill the Hulk during the World War Hulk storyline. A later roster, often called Gamma Corps: Black, appears in Dark Reign-era stories (including The Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #601) with involvement by Norman Osborn's regime and similar objectives against other gamma-affected individuals.

No single uniform visual archetype; members vary according to the specific gamma source material used in their alteration. Many exhibit Hulk-like or gamma-mutated physiognomies, often reflecting the donor template (e.g., Grey can assume a Grey Hulk–like form; Griffin is harpy-like with claws and talons; Mess is red-haired with Abomination-cloned body parts and mixed Abomination/human physiology; Mister Gideon appears muscular and visually similar to Doc Samson; Aberration is a thinner Abomination/human hybrid; Axon is described as a human/Zzzax hybrid). Comic-artist depiction varies by issue and creative team.

Abilities are derived from gamma-based alterations or grafted genetic material from established gamma-entities. Individual capabilities documented in sources include: Grey (Lieutenant Brian Talbot) can transform into a Grey Hulk–like form and is a trained martial artist and strategist; Griffin (Eliot Franklin) possesses talons/claws and corrosive venom; Mess (Corporal Nicole Martin) has superhuman attributes in Abomination-derived parts plus military training and marksmanship; Mister Gideon (Gideon Wilson) has enhanced strength and uses titanium brass knuckles; Prodigy (Timothy Wilkerson) exhibits limited telepathy/psychic blasts and technical skill, his body altered with Leader-derived DNA and artificial aging; Aberration (Rana Philips) displays Abomination-derived strength and physiology; Axon (Erin Cicero) is part human/part Zzzax with electrical/energy-associated traits. As a unit they operate as militarized hunters/soldiers armed with conventional and specialized weaponry and act on orders to neutralize or capture gamma-affected targets.
